Post-Bachelor Secondary Education Certification

Some courses applicable to the WSU Secondary Education Program are available at the University Center. Those who complete this program are certified to teach grades 7 through 12 in their teaching major and minor areas. The program allows students to complete some of their professional education courses at the University Center. Courses that are not offered in the student’s teaching major, minors, and professional education sequence, would have to be completed on main campus.

Post-Bachelor students are required to have their undergraduate transcripts evaluated by an academic advisor to determine if the student has any pre-requisites to complete before applying to the College of Education. You may request a transcript evaluation by contacting (313) 577-1605 or 577-1601.

What Alternative Careers Might I Choose?
There are a variety of areas a teacher might consider, including school counseling, school psychologist, school social worker, and school administration. There are also opportunities in community colleges and universities in teaching and administration.

Will I Be Completing/Earning Another Bachelor’s Degree?
Students pursuing Post-Bachelor Certification will not receive a degree; they will only receive their provisional teaching certificate. Credit in this program is undergraduate credit and can never be applied toward any graduate degree.
